Presentation

To address the complex and intertwined global challenges we face, scientists are increasingly called to provide their expertise not only as knowledge producers but also as communicators, advisors and sometimes even activists. This workshop, in the form of a world café, aims to entice discussion among participants on what it means for scientists to engage with policymakers, civil society, the public, and the media. In this context we will discuss the difference between science advice, advocacy and activism. With what values and risks are these categories accociated? And with what skills and resources can these boundaries be navigated effectively?
